Ultera Systems, known for high-end tape mirroring and CD mastering equipment, today announced the CD-R MultiMaster2 for producing multiple master CDs on a low-cost platform.
MultiMaster2 operates on-line using any mastering software to produce two or more master copies in the time it would take to record one. The product is available as a standalone controller or bundled with from two to 12 CD recorders. The controllers may be cascaded to drive as many recorders as necessary with no sacrifice in speed. All drives can operate at their maximum write rate.
MultiMaster2 can be used with PC, Macintosh, or UNIX platforms with a SCSI interface, and can operate with all popular CD recorders.
"On-line CD recording is especially efficient for financial institutions which must make two or more copies of daily transactions, or for government agencies which must save archival copies for 100 years" said Mo Nourmohamadian, president. "And on the other side of the spectrum, every 'copy' is actually an original, and this can be very important for high-fidelity audio."
MultiMaster2 systems are priced from $2,495 for two-drive version up to $11,995 for one with 12 recorders. Deliveries can begin immediately.
